Wood Wick Candles: Use Instructions and Guarantee

To my valued customers: Below are instructions on how to use the novel wood wick candles you may have purchased from Funkyrat Pottery, and to let you know if you have any issues with lighting/sustaining a flame, you may DM me and I will either refill your vessel with a cotton wick, or buy it back from you at full price.

This year I was excited to find wood wicks to use in some of my coconut/soy-based pottery candles, as they are chemical-free, support sustainability, allow candles to last longer and produce a gentle wood crackling sound.

However, they do require a bit more love than the cotton wick candle. Here are instructions for best results:

 1. Trim the wick so it is about an 1/8th of an inch long (notvery long).

2. Tilt the candle and light the wood wick from the base. Make sure the flame goes across the whole width of the wick. It may take several attempts.
3. The first burn is very important. It is suggested to burn the candle for 3-4 hours to ensure the wax melts to the edges of the container. This will ensure you don’t get tunnelling.

I hope those of you have bought a candle from me are able to have success with the wood wick and enjoy the candle. The larger candles may be trickier – I discovered later I should have used a larger wooden wick. Regardless, if for any reason you are having difficulties, please DM me and I will so my best to help resolve the issue one way or another.

Thanks for your support and understanding.
